Katharina Grosse - Conceptual Analysis of the Selected Work

Kateřina Dytrtová

Abstract

The text introduces the reader to an instructional method of problem setting, problem solving through the introduction and application of theoretical concepts, conceptual analysis of the selected work, and consistent support from the context and co-text of the work. It selects examples from the contemporary art scene and aims at a reasoned interpretation of the work. He relies on Goodmanian terms of denotation, exemplification and expression. He breaks down the metaphorical exemplification, expression through the cognitive perspectives of 1st and 3rd person into experiential and empathic components, thus relying on the theory of artifice. He thus opens up and solves the problem of the relationship between the relative objective givens of the work, its intersubjectively anchored interpretation and the subjectively perceived experience of the work. He understands creation as a way of knowing.
